Beanbag chairs are the ultimate furniture for creating a relaxed, informal environment at home or elsewhere. They‘re ideal for rooms with children, both in bedrooms or playrooms, and for teenagers as well. Wherever you put them, beanbags are the perfect lounging chair. Beanbag chairs first became popular in the 1960s and 1970s in Europe, Canada and the United States as a symbol of the counter-culture. They resumed their popularity in the 1990s for those seeking informal but extremely comfortable furniture, and continue to be especially popular among young people and in spaces not associated with work or school activities.
You may want to go with traditional bean bag fillers and use beans in your beanbag chair. Foam is probably the best and most cost efficient filling. All filling materials are different and all are extremely comfortable. Some fillings are softer, some more durable and some provide more movement. Choose a filling that will create a nice even pressure throughout your whole body. Beanbag chairs come in lots of different colors, fabrics and sizes, the first thing you should consider is what you want from the beanbags. Dry fabrics such PVC or a Vinyl are very durable. Cleaning them is easy as they can be wiped with a damp cloth or use soap or detergent. There are removable, washable covers that are available in many of the fabrics.
Years ago, the fillers of beanbags are made of real dried beans. However, insects are attracted to it and creep in it making the chair unsuitable to be occupied. Later on, beans are changed into PVC pellets, expanded polypropylene, and polystyrene. These fillers made the furniture lightweight which makes it easier to move around. This is an advantage when you want to rearrange the furniture in your room, you can just drag it to any space without exerting too much effort.
The reclining chair was made up of a dozen pieces of polyurethane foam and was protected by different types of fur. Despite the fact that the bag was circular it would would mould by itself to the curves associated with the sitter, who could then nore easily obtain a comfortable seating position of different angles. Some debate that the Sea Urchin is very little more than an altered futon mattress, not really that it makes much difference because the Sea Urchin is typically credited as being the precursor to the ‘Sacco‘ which is what most people realize these days as the modern beanbag.
